The research group PROMETEO mainly works in the frame of environmental safety area.

Its activity focuses in the search of different solutions to the treatment of liquid effluents based principally in the application of the different techniques of membrane. Inside their applied research lines also are studied the application of membrane technology in processes of the food industry, their combination with other depuration processes, and the modelling and simulation of membrane processes. The fouling phenomena and the regeneration of the membranes are studied specially in ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis, as well as the management of the concentrated liquids which are generated in each of the separation systems studied.

The aim of the different R+D+I works reach at scientific studies, new prototypes of membranes facilities and designs of industrial type.

From the point of view of results transfer it is relevant to point out the wide relation with entities and companies of different productive sectors such as textile, tannery, petrochemical, metallurgic, ceramic and food industry, as well as with different entities related with the market of water. At the same time this group is participating within several projects cooperation to the development in countries like Ecuador and Mozambique in issues related with the potabilization of water at rural zones.
