Line 3. Membrane processes, adsorption and advanced oxidation applied to wastewater treatment. Recovery of high added value compounds. Circular economy
In this line of research, the recovery of high added value compounds present in wastewater from industrial activity is investigated with the aim of revaluing these compounds, obtaining an economic benefit, while reducing the environmental impact of industrial wastewater. It can be reused in the process or for other uses, with the ultimate goal of achieving a circular economy. The application of ultrafiltration, microfiltration, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis and direct osmosis membrane processes and their combinations with other separation techniques such as adsorption are studied.
In this line, there is relevant experience in the recovery of bioactive and functional compounds from agri-food waste and effluents, such as polyphenols.
