Line 2. Simulation for the design and optimization of chemical, effluent treatment and decarbonization processes
This line of research aims to help design new processes or improve existing processes through the application of simulation and optimization techniques. Although the processes may be general, there is special interest in processes with liquids or gases that include membranes or transition towards a sustainable economy.
There is the ability to apply different physically-based modeling techniques when possible or based on empirical models based on experimental designs and artificial intelligence. The simulation application is carried out taking into account the uncertainties of the process to determine the confidence limits of the results obtained.
Likewise, there is the ability to use process simulation to minimize process costs or, from a multi-objective approach, take into account other factors such as risk or environmental impact.
