Line 8. Hydrogen Electrolytic Production
The study has been started with the development of new electrode materials. The main objective is to replace the high activity but expensive electrodes (based in noble metals), by economical electrodes with the same or even higher electrocatalytic activity. The electrolytic deposition of metallic salts has been chose to achieve this aim. With this technique it has been obtained high superficial area (porous materials, see figure) and electro-catalytic materials.
Otherwise, the study of the best operation conditions of an alkaline electrolyzer with the developed electrodes has also been carried out, in order to obtain the higher energetic yield, minimizing the energetic consumption.
