Line 7. Study of the PEM Fuel Cell
A kind of fuel cell is the PEM Fuel Cell that are been studied in the research group. Fuel cells are electrochemical devices where the energy chemical reaction is converted directly into electricity, by combining hydrogen fuel with oxygen from air. Water and heat are the only by products. The objective of this investigation is the study of fuel cell performance at different conditions of operation such as the temperature, stream gases humidification, pressure, stoichiometry, etc. A testbench was developed to monitor a control a 300W fuel cell stack for this investigation. This station includes a computer control and acquisition system on a LabVIEW based application software. Control of the individual components is achieved through the use RS-232 communications ports. The entire system is monitored and controlled by an integrated LabVIEW data acquisition system.
